Cesc Fabregas inspired tribal armband / elbow tattoo design

Hi,

I get a lot of requests on designing a armband tattoos inspired by the Cesc Fabregas tattoo (which I did a while ago), so I decided to create a few nice Polynesian armbands with a mix of Maori style.

In my previous post you can see my first armband/elbow design, which is the first of a series of 3 or 4 tattoos.

Here's the second tatoo sketch:

Polynesian armband design inspired by the Fabregas elbow tattoo

In the centre of the design you see one half of a tribal mask, with some koru Maori curles. I really like to mix different tribal elements and patterns into one aesthetic tattoo.
My designs don't have specific meanings or stories, it's only a graphic representation, inspired by the beautiful Maori, Samoan and Polynesian shapes.

Once I finished my pencil sketch, I trace it with a black felt-tip marker and a Pilot fineliner.
Below you can see a picture of the traced drawing:

Traced the Polynesian armband tattoo with black marker

After it is scanned in high quality (300 dpi), I optimize it in Photoshop and create a linedrawing so your tattoo artist can use it to transfer the tatoos onto your shoulder/arm.

The design is seamless, which means that it totally surrounds your arm and has no beginning or ending.
To make this visible for you, I created a cylindrical model in Google Sketchup:

Because not all arms are perfectly round, your tattoo artist might need to tweak/adjust the design for you, so it makes a perfect fit.

If you wish to order the high resolution design, simply hit the "Buy now" button.
After payment, I'll send you the high resolution design + a linedrawing for your tattoo artist.

Polynesian / Maori armband tattoo (Fabregas inspired designs)

Hi,

I get a lot of requests on the Cesc Fabregas tattoo I created a while ago, so I decided to create a few new pieces that are inspired by his elbow design.

The armband tattoos have different circumferences and can also be used as legbands.

Here's the first sketch of the first armband tattoo that has a lot of Polynesian elements and Maori koru patterns:

pencil sketch Polynesian armband design
First I sketched the koru curles with a basic b2 pencil and added some rows of Polynesian symbols that you see in the foreground.
There's a tribal polynesian mask in the centre of the piece and also at the sides two half faces are drawn. Once it's totally around the arm, these sides will make one full tribal mask.

The lines of the different shapes were traced, this time with a fineliner, so I could make it really detailed and rich. After erasing the pencil and filling the outlines with a black marker the design looks like this:

traced Polynesian band tattoo

After scanning the drawing, I digitally edited the image and optimized the design.
It's a seamless tattoo, this means that there is no end or beginning of the tattoo, it totally surrounds your arm or leg.
To make this clear to my customers I decided to make a video in Google Sketchup:

The original high resolution design is available for purchase right here.

If you wish to order it, simply hit the "buy now" button and you can pay with Paypal or creditcard.
Once I receive your payment, I'll send you the high resolution tattoo and stencil in .jpg files by e-mail.

Item: Tribal tattoo 200
Size: 35 x 10 cm (13,5 x 4 inches)
Price: 35,70 euro (48 USD)

Note: Your tattoo artist might need to adjust the design a little to make it fit your arm perfectly, because all arms have different sizes and tapering.

Tomorrow I'll upload another armband / legband design in the same Polynesian style as this tattoo.

Any questions? Just let me know.

Kind regards, Mark Storm

Samoan inspired tattoo, shoulder sleeve design

Hi,

At the moment I'm working on a series of new designs for my galleries, to replace some 'old' tattoos.
I'm really inspired by the intricate Samoan patterns which have a lot of repetitive shapes and symbols and bold tattoos.

I started with a new tatoo, a halfsleeve tribal with some Samoan and Maori influences and shapes.

First I drew a basic layout of the tatoo to make it fit to the shoulder and upper arm.
Then I draw a few crossing lines, a bit tapered to give it a sense of depth.
On the left side of the tatou I added a koru fern, a national symbol of New-Zealand, aka "Aotearoa",  and created a line of spearheads. I traced it with a black marker and a steady hand ofcourse ;)

To get a sharp and crisp look, I use a lot of triangular shapes with a high contrast between the black and white patterns. The heavy black lines are drawn to divide the tattoo into smaller section, so it's not one "greyish" mass:

When the Samoan tattoo was finished, I made a few nice pictures with my Canon 400D DSLR, which has a nice depth of field, the blurry fades:

To show you the full design process, I made video that is some sort of time-lapes, where you can see it from pencil sketch to high resolution design:

This digital mock-up shows how the tattoo will look on your shoulder. It's not a 100% accurate, but gives you an idea:

The final design can be purchased from my blog, simply hit the 'buy now' button below and you'll be forwarded to the Paypal website. Use your creditcard or Paypal account for the payment and as soon as I receive it, I'll send you two high resolution images of this tattoo.
The first is the full design with all patterns and black shapes.
The second is a linedrawing, so your tattoo artist can transfer the tatoo onto your body.

Size: 25 x 30 cm (10 x 12 inches)
Price: 41,65 euro (57 USD)

Extension shoulder tattoo in Polynesian mixed style

Hi,

Last year I created a half sleeve tattoo in polynesian style for a Dutch customer. It's a bit of a mixed tribal style, it has some stylized flowers and other repetitive shapes:

custom maori mixed tattoo design with flowers tribalpolynesian tribal flash halfsleeve tattoos for sale

Unfortunately the tattoo artist applied the stencil too small, so it now needs some extensions.

I marked the upper shoulder part that had to be inked.

I created a basic sketch and once it was approved I finalized it. To give you an idea how that process works I shot a short movie and placed it on youtube:

Tribal tattoo mask design polynesian style

Hi,

A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from the company "Paddle Republic", a surf/fitness school in the Key West, Florida.

Their design studio had come up with a polynesian mask logo, but it needed some adjustment, especially on the mask, because it was a design from a stock library. I was asked to redraw the (tattoo)mask with an original Maori inspired touch to it.

This is the logo from their design studio:

surf logo mask tiki maori tribal tattoo design

I made two pencil sketches with a different look:

maori mask logo tattoo design tiki ta mokopolynesian mask sketch maori style tiki

It was in the right style but they asked me to do another sketch, a bit more round and with more koru/maori curves:

moko face mask logo tribal design sketches

This was exactly what they were looking for, so I could trace the design in Adobe Illustrator, to make it a high quality vector logo:

Once that was completed, I added the words "Paddle Republic" and replaced the red color:

Maori kneeband tattoo design

Hi!

Here are the pictures my latest project, a kneeband tattoo in Maori/Kirituhi style. The tatoo wraps around the upper leg, just above the knee.
It has some Samoan and polynesian elements, but mainly consists of Koru tribal designs, filled with small detailed shapes.

First I made a basic layout with flowing curves and added some rows of arrowheads:

Then I filled the tattoo with polynesian and samoan elements, like triangles, waves and lines:

My customer approved the design, so I could trace it and optimize the high resolution tattoo in Photoshop. Finally I added some nice shadings. This gives an effect of depth in the overal image

Polynesian shoulder tattoo design photo

polynesian shoulder tattoo 143 tribal photos pictures sleeveHi,

A few weeks ago I sold one of my tattoo designs, shoulder tattoo 143 to a customer. Recently I received a great picture of the finished design. It's a Polynesian shoulder sleeve, with tribal elements like turtle shells, shark teeth and a mask.
It also has some Koru Kiri tuhi shapes. This particular tattoo is done really crisp, nice tight lines and flowing curves.

In the picture you see the flash design next to the finished tatoo

Polynesian eye tattoo with coconut leaves

Hi,

I've been working on a new custom design project in the first week of January.
My client wanted a quarter sleeve tattoo, covering the shoulder and half the upper arm, in a Polynesian style.
I had to incorporate some different tribal elements, like the Polynesian eye, coconut leaves and sharp triangles, as a symbol for shark teeth. He also wanted a turtle shell shape added to the tatoo

In the first sketch you can see that I started in the center with the Eye, surrounded by triangular shapes, which looks a little like a sun.
Then I drew some coconut leaves below it and made it flow with the circle above it.

In the final sketch I made a symmetrical polynesian mask in the lower center and a repetitive border ath both sides.

After tracing it, scanning and optimizing it in Photoshop, the high resolution tattoo looks like this:

Polynesian lizard shoulder tattoo

Hi,

Here's the third polynesian design I've been working on in the last few days.
It has a nice symmetry and contains a lizard in the center and a mask at the top.

Here's a sketch in an early stage:

polynesian lizard mask tattoo designFirst I create the main contours of the tattoo by drawing two circles for the shoulder part and adding a rectangular shape at the bottom.
Then I draw other main lines like the diagonal ones and horizontal guide lines.

I really like the repetitive patterns and typical "polynesian" shapes and the eyes at the top of the design.

It took me quite some time to get the image right, most of the time I draw, erase, redraw etc.
So before I get to the final stage of tracing the image, I have nearly spent half my time tweaking and adjusting the image :)

The original size of this tattoo is 23,5 x 21 cm (9 x 8 inches), but it can be scaled to adjust it to your arm/shoulder.

Price for this design is 35,70 euro (47 US dollar)

Polynesian shoulder tattoo designs

Hi!

I've been working on a few new shoulder tattoos for my web collection.
The designs are inspired by the Polynesian tribal style, like the Dwayne Johnson tattoo and have some nice detailed patterns.

dwayne johnson polynesian tattoo designsI started with a circle which covers the shoulderball and a wider rectangle just below.
Then I drew som spearheads and other tribal shapes, like turtle patterns.

I already have a few pieces like these ones in my gallery (shoulder 143, 144 and 145) and they are quite popular, so I decided to add similar designs, but only a bit wider, so it wraps around the upper arm.

The tattoos will cover the shoulder and half the upper arm.

Final Chatham Island tattoo design

Hi!

Today I finished my design of the Catham Islands in a tribal style.
My client wanted some adjustments to make it look less sharp, so I rounded some tribal elements at the bottom of the tattoo.
Here's the final sketch and the high resolution design.

high resolution polynesian tribal tattoo designs

Hi There,

I finished a few designs that I showed you last week. The first one is the polynesian mask design. A symmetrical piece with a nice face and lizard in the design. Here's the high resolution image:

lizard polynesian tattoos tribal masks images

The second design is a really large shoulder and chest tattoo, it has many styles in it, some Kirituhi, polynesian and some "storm3d" fantasy.
I took me quite some work to get this one uptimized. It was originally drawn on 2 pieces of A3 size paper (200g/m2).
I scan it on an A4 scanner, so I had to glue 4 pieces together into one and line it up perfectly.

Here's the high res design:

New tribal tattoo designs

Hi,

I haven't posted my sketches for some time, because of some health issues.
But I wanted to show you some nice tattoo designs in polynesian style and mixed tribal style.

The first design is a symmetrical tattoo piece for the upper shoulder. A polynesian mask image. I'm still working on the sketch, but here's a picture of the design till now.

polynesian mask tattoo designs symmetrical lizard images

The second one is quite a large design for the chest and upperarm. It almost completely wraps around the upper arm and shoulder. Then it runs to the chest and it also covers a small area on the back.
A few weeks ago I received a phone call from an Israelien tattoo shop, with the question if I could design a large piece in this mixed tribal style.
Here's a photo of the sketch. I kept part of the tattoo in symmetry, because otherwise it would loose its balance and get really messy.

When these tattoo images are finished, I'll post the high resolution images and show you what I will be working on in the upcoming weeks.
